2016 Memorial Day Weekend Events Springfield MO
It’s been far too long since most people have had an extended weekend, at least if they haven’t been using up their vacation days. In some ways this makes the end of winter and the beginning of spring sort of drag on, making us even thirstier for the start of summer. Most of us don’t just see Memorial Day as just a day to remember the soldiers who have left us, but also the first major holiday to kick off the warm weather ahead. For this reason, you may be wondering just what your options are as far as 2016 Memorial Day weekend events in Springfield MO are concerned.
Events going on over Memorial Day Weekend 2016 (May 27 to May 30)
National Street Rod Association Mid-America Street Rod Nationals
We couldn’t call our business a car dealership if we didn’t promote car events first! Though not VW-related, this event will pull at the heartstrings of any car enthusiast as you stroll around gazing at cars that are a minimum of 30 years old. In addition to enjoying these older vehicles, there will be commercial exhibitors, a swap meet and a women’s world exhibit.
Music, wine and available barbecue pits? The concerts are free and there will be plenty of wine and beer to purchase, on top of a different musician playing every hour from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Though you aren’t allowed to bring your own alcoholic beverages, you can bring food, soft drinks, games chairs or blankets.
Hot Rods & High Heels
It may sound like another car show, but this is actually a theater production going on over in Branson. After days spent out in the sun, you might want to cool off indoors and this is a fun event for that. The show honors the 1950s and all that the period embodied.
Visit the Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks
Memorial Day is, after all, a day dedicated to the military, so why shouldn’t you show some support by learning a bit of history? The museum will be open during its regular business hours, 12 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and admission is only $5 for adults and $3 for children.
