Memorial Day weekend marks the kickoff for summer in most people’s minds, so it only makes sense to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine. The weather for Memorial Day in Springfield is expected to be fairly mild in temperature, though warnings of scattered thunderstorms may make it advisable to head out with an umbrella. Mid-American Street Rod Nationals Plus

Cost: $15 for adults, $6 for children 6-12, children under five are free

What better way to celebrate than by taking the family to look at some fantastic older cars? There will be commercial exhibits, a swap meet and a women’s world display. Expect everything from street rods to classic vehicles to ooh and ahh over.

Mid-American Freedom Rally

When: May 22nd – May 25th

Where: Pulaski County Fort Leonard Wood Shrine Club

It’s not just the four-wheeled vehicles that will catch your eye this Memorial Day weekend, though the Mid-American Freedom Rally is an adult-only event. Expect live bands, bike shows, poker runs and contests.

Attend a Springfield Cardinals Game

When: Noon

Where: Hammons Field

Cost: $6 to $46

Memorial Day is, in many ways, a celebration of patriotism. We celebrate the soldiers who fought for your freedoms, and helped to keep America standing strong. What could be a more American way to celebrate than attending a baseball game? This week it’s the Springfield Cardinals against the Arkansas Travelers. Remember a fallen soldier

Where: Springfield National Cemetery

When: May 25th, 11:00 a.m.

A small ceremony will be held at the cemetery to remember soldier who have given their lives while serving the country.
