2016 Volkswagen Golf paint and upholstery color options

They say you eat with your eyes before you do with your mouth, which is why you might not even try a food that doesn’t appear appetizing at first glance. Perhaps the same can be true for test driving a car, because there are some models we know we wouldn’t even bother test driving. We think Volkswagen has a good thing with the seventh-generation Golf, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want more eye candy for your daily driver. You may be wondering about the 2016 Volkswagen Golf paint and upholstery color options, and just how much you can personalize the model to suit your style. (more…)

Volkswagen at the Los Angeles Auto Show

Volkswagen at the Los Angeles Auto Show

When it comes to automotive shows, news has been a bit lacking lately. SEMA just ended, but that’s a show made more for the aftermarket crowd than for those of us more interested in taking a peek at what automakers are cooking up behind the scenes. Now we have a bit more to be excited about as we get to talk about what we expect to be going on with Volkswagen at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Mostly, we’ll be seeing vehicles that have already been revealed at other shows, but more information is coming out on those, and who knows what surprises VW will bring? (more…)

Is Volkswagen bringing back the Golf Cabriolet?

Is Volkswagen bringing back the Golf Cabriolet?

It seems like every automaker has such a wide variety of models, that it can be difficult to keep up, let alone choose. It’s an expensive endeavor to keep alive models that don’t sell well, which is why the 2016 Volkswagen Eos is the last model year for the hardtop convertible. At the time when it was introduced, hardtop convertibles had been a more popular choice, but with soft top options proving more popular, it just doesn’t make sense in the American market anymore. Which brings us to the Golf Cabriolet. The model is a soft top, but hasn’t been sold here in 13 years. That’s right, not since 2002 have we seen a new rendering of it. With the Eos on its way out, is Volkswagen bringing back the Golf Cabriolet? (more…)

New Volkswagen Motorsport VW Golf

New Volkswagen Motorsport VW Golf

Those deeply interested in Volkswagen culture are likely already aware of the company’s long history in motorsports, particularly rally car racing. Now Volkswagen Motorsport is attempting to throw its hat in the ring for the eight round of the Touring Car Racer International Series (TCR), and developed a racetrack-ready Golf in preparation. The new Volkswagen Motorsport VW Golf is lower and meaner looking than any Golf available in showrooms, putting the performance of the 2015 Golf GTI to shame. Which only makes sense, but we all know GTI drivers which they could drive a real racecar. (more…)

Volkswagen Golf name changes and origins

Volkswagen Golf name changes and origins

The Volkswagen Beetle gets all the popularity for being the first, and one of the most iconic vehicles from VW, but it’s the Golf that has really taken off in sales. SInce the MK1 came out, it’s been known as an affordable and reliable model. Except, it seems we often forget the Golf used to be called the Rabbit. The Volkswagen Golf name changes and origins actually seem to be a bit of a mystery. (more…)

Volkswagen electric car options

Volkswagen electric car options

This year gas prices aren’t expected to skyrocket in the same way they have in past summers, and so the talk of electric vehicles is quieter than usual. Volkswagen released the e-Golf this year as a stronger contender against other electric vehicles on the market, but with one caveat that can really decrease its chances of being the best option available: it’s only available in select states along the East and West coasts. Now we’re hearing word that more electric vehicles will be available in China, and we’re pondering the Volkswagen electric car options that we think should be made widely available in the U.S. too.   (more…)

Should you get an automatic or manual transmission?

For most people choosing between an automatic and manual transmission is an easy decision. Some people like driving a stick, and there’s no denying you can shave some money off the initial cost of your vehicle by choosing manual, especially if the base model doesn’t offer an automatic option. Ultimately you’re the one who will be driving your vehicle day after day, so should you get an automatic or manual transmission? (more…)
